One of the things about Pokémon TCG Pocket? It’s supposed to be free-to-play, right? With those daily booster packs — like a little gift every day. And there are tons of cards, like, so many it’s almost overwhelming. And then, oh, the deck-building for those competitive matches. That’s where it gets real. Honestly, for a lot of the fans, this setup is like a dream. All these freebies — events, Hourglasses for booster packs, Wonder Pick — you name it. Yet, let’s not kid ourselves; it’s a gacha game deep down. It’s way more tangled trying to snag all the cards than you might first think. So, what’s the rarest card, you ask? Here’s the twist — there isn’t just one. There are, like, bunches of them.
Now, if you’re scratching your head wondering how we call a card rare, there are basically two ways to do it. First, what’s your shot at pulling that card from a booster? Is it, like, super rare by design? Second, are some cards just harder for everyone to get — in packs or not? With this, you’re looking at maybe 13 cards that are really rare, but who knows, this might change when the next set drops at the end of July.
Ah, Pokémon TCG Pocket’s Crown Gold rares, though. They’re top dogs — or top cards, I guess. These super elusive ones in each expansion, generally followed by Immersive rares, Rainbow rares, the usual suspects. As of Eevee Grove (sounds like a serene place, doesn’t it?), here are the big fish:
Okay, okay, where to begin — oh! Right, Crown Gold Charizard Ex, Pikachu Ex, Mewtwo Ex. These shiny gems, thanks to that pesky Genetic Apex set, are pretty scant. Which — heads up — is the only trio-pack set out there. But then again, some people might argue the Eevee Bag’s Gold Crown version, being this fresh thing, is rarer simply because not many’ve got it yet. I mean, who decides these things anyway?
And plot twist — there might be this promotional card that might take the crown as rarest of ‘em all. Lapras Ex. Yup, that’s its name. Think back to when the game kicked off; Lapras Ex made its splash, and only the early birds got their hands on it. Funny thing though, Lapras Ex doesn’t even show up in Genetic Apex. So whoever owns this gem might or might not have any, or loads, of Gold Crown rares. It’s a fuzzy line, really.
Anyway, enough of my rambling. Pokémon cards, right? Who knew cardboard could get so complex?
