Okay, so Drinkbox Studios is dropping this game called Blighted — a Metroidvania action-RPG, and it’s set in, I guess you could say, a psychedelic western nightmare? Sounds wild, right? Anyway, if you’re into that sorta vibe, it’s coming to consoles. Might be worth a look?
Picture this: You’re diving headfirst through this trippy western nightmare world. Yeah, I know, it’s as weird as it sounds, but stick with me. You’re on this epic quest to snatch back your memories. Why? Because some character named Sorcisto went full villain, wrecking everything. I mean, imagine someone eating all your memories – literally. He even devoured the whole village! Dunno about you, but that doesn’t sound pleasant, like, at all.
And about the dead? So here’s the bizarre part – they’d plant seeds in brains, and out would pop memory-laden trees. Imagine sitting under a tree, munching on a fruit and just—bam! —knowledge of your ancestors. That was, like, their version of Google. But then Sorcisto showed up, tossing that tradition out the window.
Now, you’re the last one standing. It’s down to you to piece everything back together, while fighting the urge to be corrupted by this thing called the Blight. Balancing act, right? Because the Blight’s both this powerful tool and a ticking time bomb. It’s like juggling fire — thrilling, but a bit terrifying.
And what’s gameplay without some edge-of-your-seat combat? You’ll be weaving through enemies – I imagine it’s like a dance, but way more dangerous. Timing’s everything here. Get it right, and you’re chaining combos like nobody’s business.
Plus, there’s this gnarly idea of consuming memories from bosses. A bit cannibalistic, if you ask me, but hey, all’s fair in games and nightmares, I guess? Do that, and you boost your skills and maybe, just maybe, unravel more secrets of this twisted world.
Not to mention, the game’s loaded with these surreal landscapes and characters — it’s all very "Alice in Wonderland meets the Wild West" kinda vibe. Multiplayer too. So if you’re into chaotic fun with a buddy, that’s covered.
Oh, and the soundtrack! Can’t forget that. Jim Guthrie’s behind it (remember Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP?). I mean, the haunting tunes might just stay with you longer than you’d expect.
Anyway, got a feeling this one’s gonna be a trip. Or maybe that’s just me getting lost in the details.
