Alright, so picture this: The Pokémon Company International just dropped some news, and it’s kinda big if you’re into that sort of thing (like me, embarrassingly enough). There’s this new expansion pack, Wisdom of Sea and Sky, hitting Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket. Yeah, it’s happening next week. Mark your calendars for Wednesday, July 30, 2025, ‘cause that’s the day you might want to call in “sick” from work. Just sayin’.
Anyway, the Johto region is making a comeback — can you believe it? We’re talkin’ about the classics: Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile. And don’t even get me started on the legends, Lugia and Ho-Oh. Who even thought these guys could make another splash? A nostalgic wave, if you will. Maybe they’ll remind you of those good ol’ Game Boy days… or it’s just me having a midlife crisis. Could be both.
Plus, there’s a twist — Pokémon with attack moves that don’t suck your Energy dry. Finally, right? So, if you’re into deck-building (like I tried once and failed miserably), this might be the game-changer you wished existed back in 2000-whatever.
Oh, and about trading — it’s… changing? There’s this Wishlist thing where you can, well, wish for cards. I know, sounds like a dream. You add cards to a list, tack ’em onto your profile, and pray somebody wants to trade. Up to 20 cards, with like, priority picks, I think.
But listen to this: trade tokens are getting the boot! Yeah, you won’t need them anymore. Kind of like when you realize you don’t need cable with all the streaming services available. Sort of. Shinedust is gonna be your new best friend. What even is shinedust? Sounds like something my cat would chase around the living room. Anyway, earn it by doing missions or getting duplicate cards. So, don’t toss those extras just yet.
Just a quick FYI — you won’t be trading cards for tokens after July 30, 01:00 UTC. Mark that too, if you’re the organized type.
A little sidebar, if you’re late to the party, Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket’s on both iOS and Android. Seriously, give it a whirl. I mean, who needs productivity when you’ve got a killer card game, right?
Alright, done rambling. Check out the trailer if you want. Or don’t. No pressure or anything.
