Alright, so picture this: Electronic Arts, the big honcho in gaming — you know, EA, right? — is saying goodbye to Anthem. Yep, that sci-fi kinda-shooter game is going offline. So, mark January 12th, 2026 in your calendar. That’s the day. I mean, they aren’t selling their shiny in-game stuff anymore, but hey, if you’ve got any leftover digital coins jangling around, you can still spend ’em. Got it? Okay, moving on.
They dropped this news in a blog post, with all the “thanks for your support” vibe. You know, the usual corporate love notes. I almost teared up. Almost.
And then there’s this whole job thing — like, no one’s getting the boot because Anthem’s off the radar. At least, that’s what they say. I mean, it’s all a bit vague, don’t ya think? Maybe people are safe today, but tomorrow? Who knows. Crossing fingers for them though. Good juju and all that.
Anthem was supposed to be this huge deal, right? A big leap into the live-service scene. BioWare and EA teamed up, launched it in 2019. But, man, it didn’t quite catch the crowd. Heard the development was a bit of a rollercoaster too. I think the details came out later, or maybe I just missed it during the chaos of launch.
By the end of that year, BioWare was all like, “Let’s fix it up.” There was talk of an upgrade — Anthem Next or something. Yeah, that got canned too. So much for second chances, huh? Anyway, I digress. So long, Anthem. It was… a journey.
