Okay, so you know how some games just pull you in even if they’re about stuff you never thought you’d care about? Well, that’s kind of what Saber Interactive’s doing with their Runner series. They’ve been inching closer to nailing vehicle off-roading since 2017’s Mudrunner. And guess what? They’ve hit a sweet spot with their latest, Roadcraft. And trust me, it’s like when you find a perfect avocado at the grocery store—you don’t totally get why it’s so satisfying, but it just is.
Ed, who’s usually super skeptical about sims, of all things, was like, “Yeah, this is actually pretty awesome.” He even said it turns boring stuff into pure joy, or something to that effect. He’s onto something, though. It’s got this construction vibe that somehow feels more rewarding than wiping out enemies in some blockbuster shooter. I mean, stacking virtual bricks can be weirdly fulfilling. Who’d have thought?
And it’s not just Ed going nuts over it. On launch day, Steam was buzzing, and the big bosses over at the publisher’s headquarters were popping champagne and whatnot. Pullup Entertainment—yep, that’s the name—basically said, “Holy moly, Roadcraft just crushed it.” They’re like, “Best launch ever. Seriously.” Over 600,000 people have dipped their toes into this thing already. Can you believe it?
Oh, and Geoffroy Sardin, the CEO guy, was all smiles too. He kept gushing about those crazy first weeks after launch. Must be nice to have it all click like that. Makes me wonder if they had a little extra luck, or just tons of hard work. Maybe both. Who knows.
Got a thing for building games or just curious? You can snag Roadcraft on Steam. Or don’t—up to you. But if you’re into building stuff, we’ve got other recs too. They’re kind of like finding Easter eggs, minus the chocolate. Anyway, come hang out with us on Discord if you wanna chat about it. Or, you know, follow us on Google News for more gaming madness. Cheers!
