Alright, so get this. IO Interactive decided to finally spill a tiny bit about this James Bond game they’ve been making noise about since like, 2020 or something. The game, titled 007 First Light, kinda stumbled onto the scene with just one piece of art thrown on Twitter. Because that’s apparently how you announce a game these days.
But hey! Here’s a spark of joy – we’re not gonna be left in the dark forever. IO’s cooking up some big show-offs this week. So, I guess, stay tuned?
Anyway, there’s also this big thing happening – their first-ever showcase. They call it the IOI Showcase (real creative, huh?). Out in Los Angeles this Friday, June 6. Oh, and for those of us not in LA, they’ll be streaming it live. That’s happening at 6pm PT, 9pm ET, 2am UK time. Confusing? Totally.
Oh! Almost forgot – this showcase is just a bit after the Summer Game Fest’s opening gig, which is at like 2pm PT. You know, Geoff Keighley’s thing. I have a weird gut feeling they might toss us a teaser bone there. Maybe it’ll just be, “Hey, come check this other thing later.”
Okay, so they’re giving us a sneak peek at the gameplay. Plus, updates on other things they’re working on, like MindsEye. Also, they’ll drop some news on Hitman. Because why not?
Now, back to 007 First Light. No clue when it’s coming out exactly. They said it’d roll out on multiple platforms, but the only one they seemed confident enough to confirm was the upcoming Switch 2. Probably, maybe, who even knows, it’ll appear on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox the same day. Fingers crossed for clarity at, you guessed it, Friday’s event.
Did I mention it’s an origin story? No existing Bond films to lean on here. We get a fresh, young James Bond in his own little universe. Sounds fun, I think.
And with that, we’re left to ponder. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see what Friday spills. 🎉
