Strolling through game shops, it’s like tripping over a mountain of platformers. Seriously, there’s so many. How does any new game get noticed in this sea? Gotta be different, stand out somehow, right? This thought bounced around in my noggin during PAX East 2025, especially after bumping into Love Eternal.
This game… it’s crafted by sibling developers. Sounds like a heartfelt family recipe, doesn’t it? Anyway, they’re from Oregon, but now they’re in Los Angeles. Crazy move, honestly. And those wildfires? Yikes. That’s got to mess with your head a bit. Love Eternal kinda mirrors that vibe—it channels some serious Perfect Blue energy. If you know, you know.
So you start as Maya. Boring suburban life, I thought—until the phone rings. She chats with her family, hears something funky, comes back, and poof! Everyone’s vanished. Cue the twilight zone music. The whole world outside? Ancient and… haunted-feeling. Everything feels warped and jagged like a bad trip. (Not that I’d know, but you get it.)
Then we get Maya hopping around, pulling some gravity-defying stunts. Like, she can flip gravity and walk on the ceiling. I mean, who hasn’t wished for that superpower once in a while? But there’s a catch—always is. Gotta land before you can flip again. It’s like they don’t want you to turn into Superman mid-jump. C’mon, cut a gal some slack!
Oh, and those red stones? Game-changers. Grab one, she gets another flip before landing. But some puzzles… man, they’ll make your brain melt. Just keep an eye on those save points; they’re your lifeline when (not if) you mess up. Reminds me of Celeste and VVVVVV—those charmingly evil games.
Apparently, the developers want you noodling through these traps while unfolding a gripping tale. I mean, a “castle built of bitter memories” and a “lonely god”—yeah, emotionally scarred is one way to finish a game, I suppose. Countdown’s on for its release, though. Soon enough, we can all strap in for a weird, whirlwind four-hour joyride on Xbox One, Switch, PS4/5, and PC. Can’t wait!
