Alright, so here’s the thing. Nintendo decided to drop some news on us Tuesday. They’re bringing out this funky new game called Drag x Drive on August 14—same day as Madden NFL 26, which, let’s be honest, is probably gonna be hogging the spotlight. Anyway, Drag x Drive is all about wheelchair basketball and shows off the Switch 2’s mouse controls. Fancy, right?
What’s wild is how this date is giving us clues—Sort of like peeking at a wrapped gift before Christmas—about what Nintendo’s got lined up for 2025. Six months post-Switch 2 launch, and bam! We’re seeing a pattern.
Now, Drag x Drive sounds intriguing. And it’s only 20 bucks, so it’s not like you need to raid your piggy bank. It’s sitting there, rounding out a chill summer game lineup for Switch 2. Oh, and August is also gonna bring us Kirby and the Forgotten Land: Star-Crossed Land. New Mouthful Modes? Count me in!
Jumping back to July just for a sec, we’ve got Donkey Kong Bananza swinging in, and Super Mario Party Jamboree splashes back as a Switch 2 Edition. New TV content for that one too—old and new, a classic jumble.
But then, come September, Nintendo kind of throws the ball to the third-party folks. Nothing really sits on the event calendar, just games like Borderlands 4 and Final Fantasy Tactics. You know, the usual suspects.
October though, oh man, that’s a sweet treat. Pokémon Legends: Z-A pops in with a cross-gen release. You didn’t see that coming in the horoscope, did ya?
Hold up, there’s more in the pipeline for 2025. Kirby Air Riders and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond wave at us from the distance. Primetime for Metroid maybe lands in September?
And let’s not forget, tons of other games are swirling around. Like, really, imagine Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, Hades 2, and Hollow Knight: Silksong all knocking on Switch 2’s door.
Oh, and by “winter”… Who knows, maybe Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment hits early 2026. I’m kinda hoping it snows epic games that season.
Plus, thinking out loud here, the gap fillers could come from GameCube classics via Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. Fingers crossed for Super Mario Sunshine and who knows what else.
So yeah, Nintendo has a knack for pulling surprises. It’s gonna be a wild ride, no seatbelts required. Expect the unexpected, right?
