Oh man, you should’ve heard it – the chaos of screams echoing through PAX East like some wild festival. I’m talking about the Magic: The Gathering and Final Fantasy mashup. Seriously, folks were losing it over this whole RPG crossover thing. There was this epic presentation – two hours, felt like forever and no time at all, you know? Somehow they managed to cram it with Chocobos and these incredible land cards. Something about those cards just got stuck in my brain. Maybe because they look like the legendary Final Fantasy spots.
I mean, they’d given us a sneak peek back in February, right? But this new walkthrough? It was like unwrapping birthday gifts as a kid. You not only see the cards, you kinda feel how they’ll play. Odd, how cardboard can seem so exciting. Or maybe I’m just a sucker for shiny new things.
And get this, they’ve roped in Yoshitaka Amano again. The guy’s basically magic himself. That new take on Kefka? It’s something else. Gotta love it when an artist just nails it. It’s like, “Yes! That’s exactly how I imagined it!”
Magic: The Gathering and Final Fantasy – now that’s a combo. They’re already tangled up with Lord of the Rings, Marvel, even Spongebob (don’t ask me how that works). Apparently, it’s huge, like nobody’s worried about the economy crashing or anything. Chris Cocks from Hasbro says it’s the best-selling set ever. Mind-blowing, right?
And trust me, the cards haven’t even hit the shelves yet! They’re dropping June 13. If you’re itching to snag those packs early, you might want to think about a pre-order. Can’t have everyone else beating you to the draw or… whatever card pun fits here.
